Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are an integral part of the organization and provide support to ensure that every animal receives the highest quality of care and compassion. We have a small staff and there are so many animals who need our services. That’s why we’re always looking for people who love animals and are interested in getting involved in the community.

How to Become a Volunteer?
We have many volunteer opportunities available at the Centralia Humane Society for committed individuals who are looking to make a difference. The first step in becoming a volunteer is to complete a Volunteer Information Sheet. After you have completed the form, call Tammy Travis, the Volunteer Coordinator, at 618-532-0489 to discuss which volunteer opportunities best fit you and your lifestyle and what steps are next.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering at an animal shelter can be fast paced, emotional and very rewarding. The duties you perform will directly benefit the animals. The animals you will see and care for will be with us an average of 4 to 6 weeks until we find them a responsible, loving home. You must focus on what you can do to make their time with the Humane Society as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
Volunteer opportunities at the Centralia Humane Society include Dog Walking, Cat Cuddlier, Hands on Pet Care, Shelter/Clerical, Veterinary Visits, Medical Assistant, Foster Care Provider, Community Outreach, and Committee Volunteers.
